Movies such as Dirty Dancing and The Last of the Mohicans are the most popular but there were many more filmed in this area.
The Lake Lure area is a film maker’s dream. The mountain backdrops, beautiful water, incredible skies make for some of the most beautiful scenery around Asheville. It is truly a magical place.
If you get a chance to visit, hop on the Lake Lour tour boat and they will give you a full run down of films that were shot there, as well as a lot of great history about the area, the lake, and also lots of great tidbits about the desirable Lake Lure NC Real Estate. You will also ride right by the part of the lake where Patrick Swayze was lifting Jennifer Grey up out of the water!
When you visit Chimney Rock, you can get a bird’s eye view of Lake Lure and your view will stretch on for many, many miles. You can also see the Hickory Nut Waterfall which was the famous scene in Last of the Mohicans where Indians fell over the edge.

There is so much culture in our amazing little city. With a population just over 80,000, it is the perfect size. There’s barely any traffic in comparison to major metro areas, and there is majestic beauty surrounding.
With short drives outside Asheville, you can be in the midst of some of the greatest hiking trails, waterfalls, and mountain views in the country.
In the fall, the leaf color changes are absolutely stunning. There are very few areas with better fall foliage than what we experience here in Asheville NC.
